Is the critiscism of nolan unfair?

I made a point of watching him closely today. Just to have a look at his all round play and what he brings to the team. When he was a taken off, to a rapture of applause and boos, some people behind us started moaning.

"Why not boo song..oh wait, he 's from barcelona"

"Why not boo noble..oh wait , he's from canning town isnt he"

"Why boo nolan, at least he's put in a shift"

I think sometimes people watch a different game to me. I have been fortunate to play football at a reasonably high level, but for the life of me i cant see what he brings to the team? Forget his big wages, even if he was on £100 a week i wouldnt pick him.

It actually bugs me that some west ham "fans" think he adds any value to the team?

No it is not. Kevin Nolan has been a good captain and a good goalscorer from midfield. He has been the player you least wanted to play against as he niggled away and scored goals. In the first year or so he did this for us to great effect. More recently he has been consistently awful. Last years sending's off were an example of a player seriously in decline. This season's ineffectual ploding shows he is now further off the pace to the extent that he is negatively affecting and detracting from those better players around him (Song; Downing are good examples). It is not his fault he is being picked and the team shaped to accommodate him. He is however no longer a good player going through a bad patch, he is simply a spent force and therefore when playing badly in the shirt we love, very much fair game for criticism. After all Kevin isn't slow to let other know when they aren't up to scratch.

I never really understoof the critiscism of Nolan in previous seasons as he was top goal scorer for each of them, some vital goals scored in promotion and keeping us up last year.

But this year he has been awful. He never used to add much but he would seem to always pop up with an important goal so you could justify his place.

Now the goals have dried up what else does he have to offer? Even his captaincy was important other seasons, this year I don't think anyone cares what he has to say as he is keeping better players out of the starting 11.

I never think a player should be boo'd, no matter what, that is just two bob cuntiness. Support the team, regardless!

But I can see why Nolan is getting critiscism this season.

The fat cunt knows he isnt getting a new contract so he will fuck with us again for Sunday and come out with some half baked attempt to justify it or blame someone for the result afterwards.

Honestly the shit he cane out with on Sunday was plain embarrassing, 3 games in 6 days, exactly what West Brom did. But they got everyone in their own half when he had the ball, admittedly they didnt have to sprint as we passed the ball sideways for 5 minutes before lumping it back to them, and when they took the ball back from us they all piled forward. Now where do you think they got their energy from. He is a cunt

When the team being picked is wrong the only way to vent frustration at the manager is by doing it at the games, meaning that the player is caught in the middle, which is unfair on him but it's so fucking obvious that he shouldn't be playing!
The middle against man city earlier in the season (song, amalfitano, Koyate, downing) I don't think has played together since.. correct me if I'm wrong...

I don't think Nolan would get grief if he didn't start.
I don't think Allardyce would get grief if he played Sakho Valencia with Downing behind.

I think if we gave every game a good go with some half decent football nobody would be on anyone's case.

The way we play, when the result isn't good, it feels worse I guess.

I said when we first brought Nolan that apart from his knack of being in the right place at the right time he brings very little else.

Of course if you're scoring goals then you get away with it but now that's vanished from his game then he can't.

The Song, Noble, Nolan midfield doesn't work, it never has bar one game against the Mancs. You need someone with movement and speed which is why we've missed Kouyate.

Massive game on Sunday and with Collins, Reid and Poyet all fit there simply can be no excuse to pick that midfield trio and Nolan has to be the one to drop out.

There was a lot of booing and ironic cheers around by where I was sitting and although I agree with the post I do feel a bit sorry for Nolan... (wait for the abuse)...
It isn't his fault that he is completely shit and past it. The booing (on my behalf anyway) is directed at that fat prick manager who keeps picking him ahead of Amalfitano who got sent off out of frustration of always being on the bench behind worse players.
Song has also been shockingly bad since the new year but seems to have a much winder birth since he's from Barca!

The most irritating thing for me is that walrus tosser refuses to make any form of apology to the fans.. he hates us and we hate him and so he has to go.

When he's booed I think it's towards Allardyce too. Everyone is fucking sick of him, and sick of the style of play that comes with him playing.

I hope it gets worse too. I hope it costs Allardyce his job.

Depends really, what you mean by getting away with it? If you mean in the press, it's pretty straightforward - what's more interesting, Jack WILSHERE having a smoke outside a TRENDY London nightspot, or Kevin NOLAN getting pissed in an Essex boozer? No contest.

But generally speaking, if he wants to get shitfaced after every game (not saying he does), I couldn't give a monkeys.
But he's old enough and smart enough to know that doing it in places where West Ham fans live means it'll get used as a stick to beat him with when he isn't playing well.

Fair point. But I meant getting away with being out all the time. If he is that is. As you say I haven't ever seen or heard of him being on it all the time. But, there you go. If people have seen him then that is it.

Cheers Stewie. That's one less excuse for him then. I'm actually with Russ, if it's true, and I'm not convinced that it is (no disrespect) then I'm surprised he gets away with it, Allardyce's mate or not.

He wasn't drunk on holiday in the summer. He found a fine replacement for booze.
